The International Seed Federation (ISF) reaffirmed its support to “The Climakers” initiative for the next two years to go on gathering and scientifically validating on-the-ground practices by farmers to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Workshops will be held in multiple regions (Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean) to build the knowledge base, relying on farmers’ practical experience in the field, which could be replicated and scaled up on a broader level.
ISF is the voice of the global seed sector and has been partnering with and supporting the initiative since its launch in 2018 in Katowice, Poland, at COP 24.
There is a long way ahead and many opportunities until COP 27 and beyond to be grabbed and explored to put the farmers, together with their partners, at the centre of every discussion on food systems and climate change.
Great ambitions can only be achieved together, thus embracing the very spirit of The Climakers, a shared alliance for climate change characterised by an authentic bottom-up approach.
